Prince Setanta Mark Lodge boosts Blue Skies’ funding

Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s Blue Skies fundraisers received a visit from PrGM Keith Beardmore, his Assistant Giles Berkley together with special representative John Forster and the WM of Prince Setanta Mark Lodge No 1446 Steven Thackrah, who were there to present a cheque for £1,400 to Blue Skies Community Fundraiser Joanna Allitt and her colleague Deanna Harvey from Prince Setanta Lodge.

Steven explained that his lodge had raised the funds from a raffle which resulted in a sum of £600 being accumulated. This amount was match funded by the Provincial Grand Lodge and, on hearing what the worthy cause was for; two anonymous donors also gave £100 each resulting in a ‘princely’ £1,400 total.

Thanking her visitors for their generous support of Blue Skies, Joanna said that the donation would go towards a project which would see patient boards installed by every bed in the hospital which would contain confidential colour- coded information on the beds’ occupants for the use of medical staff.

Keith said that Mark Masons were keen to assist where they could in their local communities and he cited examples of supplying defibrillators to every Masonic Hall in West Lancashire, the purchase of Blood Bikes and even assistance in helping fund the RNLI so they could replace a lifeboat at St Anne’s. He added that the Mark degree raised its funds from within the organisation rather than relying on public financial support.

Keith said that he was very glad to have been able to have been able to help such a good cause as Blue Skies and wished Joanna every success for the future.
